WHERE TO STAY:
Positano may be my absolute favorite place on Earth! Let me start off by saying no matter where you stay during your visit, you will be surrounded by paradise. The views at every angle are unlike anything else you will ever experience in your life. The people are great, the food is incredible, and there is so much to see and do not only within Positano, but also in the nearby surrounding towns along the Amalfi coast. During our first trip to Positano we stayed at Hotel Ancora and Covo Dei Saraceni. Both were great and had fantastic views. During our second visit to Positano we were looking for something a bit less expensive and stayed at Casa Albertina. While Casa Albertina was not quite as nice as the other two, it still had amazing views and was in a wonderful location. On our most recent trip to Positano, we stayed at Palazzo Margherita which is a small and quaint BNB offering only a few rooms, each coming with spectacular views. We chose to stay in the Palazzo room and absolutely loved our private terrace and views (last photo was taken from our private terrace). Both Casa Albertina and Palazzo Margherita required SEVERAL steps in between the town center/beach and the hotels, so they would not be the best option for those looking to avoid the hassle and wanting to be closer to everything. However, we still enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend any of the below hotels to those visiting Positano!
A short 45 min fairy ride from Positano can get you to the beautiful island of Capri. We stayed in Capri for 2 nights and felt this was plenty of time to do and see what we wanted. During our visit to Capri, we stayed at Hotel Luna and absolutely loved everything about it. We would highly recommend this hotel if you choose to spend a night or two in Capri.
WHAT TO SEE AND DO:
1. Beach day (For about €20-25 you can rent two chairs and an umbrella. You can also order wine and food on the beach if you sit in one of the locations by the beach restaurants).
2. Boat tour (You can choose to take a private trip or you can take the ferry to Capri or another town on the island for the day- Capri is 45 mins from the main port).
3. Hiking along the trails above Positano
4. Cooking Class at Marina in Cucina
Marina in Cucina Cooking Class
5. When in Capri, take the bus over to Anacapri for the day. It is very charming and has some of the best views of the island.
6. Visit the Blue Grotto, Grotta Verde, & Faraglioni during a boat tour in Capri
7. Hike the Phoenician Steps of Capri
8. Have lunch at Da Adolfo – a family own restaurant only reachable by boat. They will come and pick you up via boat at your hotel. The restaurant has it’s own private beach with lounge chairs and is super relaxing. It can be difficult to get a reservation so I would ask your hotel to help by calling for you in advance as they book up quickly.
WHERE TO EAT:
1. Next 2 (great food, romantic setting).
2. Casa E Bottega – brunch spot with heathy options
3. Da Vincenzo (known as one of the best in Positano- be sure to make a reservation in advance).
4. Chez Black (casual restaurant on the beach)
5. Da Gabrisa
6. Il Ritrovo – located in Montepertuso (15-20 min shuttle from Positano) great views and overall wonderful service in a beautiful and cozy setting. The restaurant will provide a shuttle for you from your hotel.
7. La Tagliata – also located in Montepertuso – this family owned restaurant provides some of the most spectacular views (especially during sunset). They will also provide a shuttle for you from your hotel. They grow most of their ingredients on site and also provide a cooking class.
WHERE TO DRINK:
1. Franco’s (Amazing views, good vibes & music, great cocktails! It is usually pretty crowded and each time we have had to wait a few minutes for a table- but it is worth the wait).
2. Music on the rocks (this is a nightclub but also has a more relaxed lounge up above the club).
3. Il Capitano
4. Il Tridente
