WHERE TO STAY:
During our time in Bali, we stayed within the cultural center of Ubud at the Komaneka-Bisma hotel. We absolutely loved our stay at the hotel and within the city. The streets are filled with so much character and there are plenty of things to see/do along with many great restaurants to check out. Komaneka was an absolutely beautiful hotel with wonderful amenities, we highly recommend staying here should you find yourself in Ubud! (p.s. if you choose to stay at Komaneka, you must book a massage at the spa – it is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!)
The one thing we regret about our time in Bali, is that we did not spend any time in the beach resort town of Seminyak. We have heard wonderful things about it and would recommend that anyone coming to Bali be sure to add in both destinations during their stay! I would say 3 days in each would be perfect!
WHAT TO SEE AND DO:
1. Sacred Monkey Forest (a must when visiting Ubud. BEWARE: the monkeys do not respect personal space. I would recommend visiting with empty pockets 🙂 No need to be frightened, the monkeys are friendly….and, it is a once in a lifetime experience)!
2. Saraswati Temple
3. Holy Water Temple
3. Bike tour
4. Ubud Market
5. Rice Terrace Tour (there are several to choose from. I would ask your hotel for their recommendations).
6. Ubud Royal Palace at night (live shows, music, and dancing)
8. For those that are Eat, Pray, Love fans..you can visit the Monk Julia Roberts sees in the movie, Ketut Lier (be sure to arrive early and have extra money to spare as he only sees 25 people per day, address: Jalan Raya Andong, Banjar Nagi, Petulu, Ubud, Bali, 80571)
