Amalfi & Atrani

About a 40 min drive east of Positano (depending on traffic), you will find Amalfi. While it is not as large as Positano, the town has a lot to offer and we found it to be a bit more authentic as the tourist crowds were not as hectic. I combined Amalfi & Atrani to one post because they are neighbors to one another. You can walk from one town’s beach to the next in less than 10 minutes! Atrani is much smaller than Amalfi, but it does have a few restaurants, gelato shops, and boutiques- plus, we enjoyed the beach here more than the beach in Amalfi. For dining purposes, you will find the best restaurants in Amalfi, but in my opinion, the best bnb option can be found in Atrani 🙂

WHERE TO STAY:

When choosing where to stay,  we selected a bed and breakfast in Atrani. It was an 6-8 min walk to the square in Amalfi and had its own little town as well but a bit smaller. This b&b was by far our favorite place during our trip. We stayed at La Scogliera Rooms which is in the home of this adorable older couple Pino and Pena. The views are great, location is great, and they make you feel so welcome- staying with this couple was one of the highlights of our trip! Homemade breakfast is served to your room every morning- Pino will set up an umbrella so you can enjoy your meal on your private balcony and take in the sea views. Highly recommend staying here if you come this way!

WHAT TO DO AND SEE:

1. Beach day (there are beaches in both Amalfi and Atrani – we chose to go to Atrani Beach as it was closest and also less crowded. They have a casual yet AMAZING pizza stand **get the chef pizza** and a bar you can walk up and order drinks).

2. Stroll the charming streets filled with cafes and boutiques

3. Take a cooking class at Mamma Agata -(you must book in advance. It is a bit pricey but worth it)
